Bread plates for every meal
It makes the queue at the bakers more bearable and has been seducing children for years at the supermarket: the smell of freshly baked bread must be one of the most pleasant aromas known to man. For that very reason, even a small basket containing warm bread rolls or a slice of bread from a fresh loaf puts everyone in a good mood. To maintain this aroma throughout the meal, Villeroy&Boch offers a wide range of bread plates with patterns to match almost all of its collections. The relatively small bread and snack plates can be used for a simple evening meal or for a quick breakfast. If you have invited guests to dinner, they can be used as side plates for the French stick accompanying the soup, or for other side dishes.
Not just for bread and butter
Thanks to their practical small format, the bread plates are equally suitable for serving a quick snack. A small sandwich for reviving your energy in the afternoon, a couple of sausages with a dash of mustard or a few spring rolls are no sooner made than eaten, and they don't require a large dinner plate either. If you prefer to nibble on something sweet, use the plates simply as a cake plate and serve your guests delightful profiteroles or home-made baklava. As is to be expected from Villeroy&Boch, many of the bread plates not only come in bright colours but they often also have an original shape. When there's something to celebrate, these plates instantly add a festive touch to the coffee table.
Porcelain for any occasion
Villeroy&Boch's bread plates are made of different types of porcelain. For everyday use, the plates are distinguished by our premium porcelain. Thanks to their extremely high resistance to impacts and scratches, you can stack and lay them on the table without having to worry about damaging them. The patterns are firmly sealed under the glaze and will not rub off. For that reason, these bread plates are also dishwasher-safe. For special occasions, it's best to choose plates made with exclusive premium bone porcelain. They have a slightly glossy colour and a special shine. Depending on the collection, the bread plates are also decorated with fine gold or platinum applications.
A plate with tradition
It's no coincidence that so many sayings are to do with bread, seeing as bread is one of the world's most important foodstuffs and Germany is famous throughout the world for its bread. It's precisely for that reason that the bread plates are a particularly important component of every porcelain set, and have been meticulously created by Villeroy&Boch. As the plates are continuously in use – whether in the morning at breakfast or on the beautifully decorated dinner table in the evening – one single person requires six plates on average. So a family of four needs approximately 16 pieces so that each family member can always use their own bread plate.
